Summary

of Responsibilities
  • Teach a variety of Developmental Mathematics or Quantitative Reasoning courses.
  • Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study with measurable objectives for each course taught.
  • Prepares instructional materials, including course syllabi, exams, and instructional materials as necessary.
  • Evaluates student learning utilizing accepted assessment strategies.
  • Engages classes in a student‑oriented approach to instruction.
  • Maintains and submits records of student accountability and performance.
  • Provides an open, student‑centered, welcoming, and respectful classroom environment.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduated from an accredited university with a minimum of a B.S. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field. Must have 18 credit hours of graduate‑level mathematics/statistics to teach MAT 1000 or above.

Preferred Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Mathematics or a closely related field.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Knowledge of the principles and methodology of subject matter and course content.
  • Skill in instruction strategies and techniques.
  • Skill in classroom management.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
  • Ability to communicate (written and oral) with a wide variety of students, faculty, and others effectively.
  • Ability to engage in innovative, student‑centered pedagogy.
  • Interpersonal, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and supervisory skills.
