Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is searching for a one-year non-tenure track faculty member to help with Public Health courses, which may include courses such as Health Behavior Theory/Practice, Women's Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and others. Position Summary:

Under the direction of the department chair and the dean of the College of Health and Public Service, this full-time, non-tenure track faculty member will be assigned a teaching workload that may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online sections and will include public health related courses. This position is a one-year contract only.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Teaches public health courses, with the possibility of other courses as determined by the department. Instructs and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms through online content delivery, lectures, discussions, conferences, demonstrations, individualized instructions, and other appropriate methods.
  • Prepares instructional materials including writing assignments, examinations, outlines, syllabi, visual aids, and presentations as necessary.
  • Evaluates student learning, maintains accurate records of student accountability, attendance, and performance.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's in Public Health, Health Promotion/Education, or a closely related academic field. Minimum of six months post-secondary teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctorate in Public Health, Health Promotion/Education, or a closely related academic field. Documents Needed to Apply

    Knowledge of subject matter in public health course content. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, and techniques. Knowledge of the principles and methodology of in-person, hybrid, and distance education models.

    Skills in teaching as demonstrated through effective instructional strategies and techniques. Skills in maintaining a positive and engaging learning environment for students. Effective oral and written communication skills. Skilled in time management and organization.

    Ability to instruct and motivate students, manage classroom procedures, and evaluate student learning in traditional, hybrid, and distance learning formats. Ability to adapt a new course curriculum. Ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and students.
