Student - SIMLab Associate - Resilient-Hope Team Research Assistant​/Analyst

Position Announcement

The Center for Social Impact is seeking highly motivated, intellectually curious, and detail-oriented Student Research Assistants / Analysts to join our newly formed Resilient-Hope Team. This paid position involves working alongside our Relational Care Fellow to build out the Resilient-Hope Initiative—a framework designed to study, teach, and operationalize resilient-hope as a catalyst for systemic social change. The Resilient-Hope Team will engage in deep academic research, curriculum design, event execution, and community-facing advocacy.

Because this is a pioneering program, we are looking for creative, innovative problem-solvers who thrive in ambiguity and are excited to co-create a program from the ground up. We are hiring for two distinct tracks (Research/Narrative or Curriculum/Experience). Applicants are encouraged to specify their preferred track(s) in their application.

Hours:

12–15 hours per week

General Responsibilities (All Team Members)

• Collaborate with the Assistant Director, Relational Care Fellow, and fellow Resilient-Hope Team members to build, test, and scale the CSI Resilient-Hope Framework.
• Practice proactive project management to ensure team deliverables are met.
• Navigate project ambiguity with a creative, solution-oriented mindset.
• Support general Center for Social Impact events, workshops, and student-engagement initiatives.
• Help develop and maintain position history, templates, and documentation.
• Track-Specific Responsibilities (Applicants will focus primarily on one)
• Track A:
  Research, Narrative & Communications
• Conduct deep academic literature reviews on hope theory, relational care, and social impact metrics.
• Synthesize complex academic findings into highly accessible articles, policy briefs, and white papers.
• Develop and execute marketing campaigns, newsletter content, and storytelling initiatives to promote Resilient-Hope Team discoveries to the wider campus and community.
• Collaborate on writing and editing content for publication across various CSI platforms.
• Track B:
  Curriculum, Design & Experience
• Translate academic research into interactive curriculum, workshops, educational modules, and toolkits.
• Coordinate, host, and facilitate community workshops, panel discussions, and collaborative events related to the Resilient-Hope Framework.
• Build and maintain a network of community partners, faculty allies, and student advocates to test and experience the curriculum.
• Evaluate educational and event outcomes to iteratively improve learning and engagement frameworks.

• Must be a current UVU student in good academic standing.

• Tolerance for Ambiguity:
  Ability to work independently, ask clarifying questions, and make progress on projects without a rigid, step-by-step blueprint.
• Creative Problem-Solving: A natural inclination toward innovative thinking and an eagerness to suggest new methods or ideas.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and self-directed work skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adjust tone for academic, student, or community audiences.
• Proficiency in digital organization (e.g., Box, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office) and maintaining accurate documentation.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

• Prior experience with qualitative/quantitative research, literature reviews, or academic writing.
• Experience in curriculum development, public speaking, teaching, or workshop facilitation.
• Digital communications, social media marketing, copywriting, or event planning experience.
• Previous involvement or work at the UVU Center for Social Impact.
