Summary of Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned Digital Media courses in accordance with department curriculum, learning outcomes, and university policies, using effective instructional strategies and current industry practices.
  • Develop and maintain course materials, assignments, assessments, and instructional content that support student learning and engagement in digital media disciplines.
  • Evaluate student performance, provide timely feedback, maintain accurate academic records, and submit grades in accordance with university deadlines and procedures.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment by mentoring students, holding appropriate office hours or consultation times, and connecting students with university resources when needed.
  • Maintain proficiency in current digital media technologies, software, industry trends, and best practices to ensure course content remains relevant and career-focused.
  • Collaborate with department faculty and leadership on curriculum implementation, program initiatives, accreditation requirements, and other departmental activities as assigned.
  • Comply with university policies, professional standards, and academic requirements while performing other instructional duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's or an associate's degree and two years of experience related to the summary of duties; OR any combination of education and/or experience totaling four years.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of digital media principles, industry practices, and emerging trends in areas such as digital design, multimedia production, content creation, visual communication, and digital storytelling.
  • Knowledge of instructional methods, curriculum development, and assessment practices in higher education.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard digital media software and technologies relevant to the courses being taught (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, video editing, web design, motion graphics, or related applications).
  • Knowledge of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and educational technologies used to support student learning and course delivery.

Skills

  • Skilled in developing and delivering engaging course content that promotes student learning, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including the ability to provide clear instruction, constructive feedback, and professional mentorship.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and classroom management skills, with the ability to balance instructional responsibilities and meet academic deadlines.
