Job Summary /Basic FunctionLooking for a flexible, meaningful student job that will help you build your résumé and professional skills?
Career Services is seeking a positive, team-oriented student to serve as a career mentor for other students, give presentations on career-related topics, help with events, and assist with data and tracking for WSU’s student employment expansion program (called “50/50”). Training will be provided.
- Up to 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling
- One mandatory one‑hour training meeting each week
Successful candidates will be enthusiastic, dependable, data-oriented, and have excellent customer service skills.
Responsibilities- Assist students, employers, and visitors in person, by phone, and through email
- Review student appointments, employer accounts, and job postings in Handshake
- Help maintain a welcoming and professional office environment
- Meet individually with students to help strengthen résumés, cover letters, and interviewing skills
- Assist students with Handshake and Linked In profiles
- Help give presentations to groups on career-related topics
- Assist with marketing and outreach for events, presentations, and other services
- Assist with tracking student payments and other info for WSU’s student employment expansion program (“50/50”)
- Help with other data and misc. projects for the center as requested
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and presentation skills.
- Strong computer skills, comfortable with Microsoft Office including Excel (or equivalent), and able to pick up new technical skills quickly.
- Solid project management skills and good attention to detail.
- To remain eligible for this position, students must:
- Enroll as a full‑time student each semester
- Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA
- Submit a FAFSA each year to be considered for Federal Work‑Study funding (this requirement does not apply to international students). Students who applied for Federal Work‑Study but were not awarded funding are still welcome to apply and may be considered for the position.
- GPA > 3.0 (higher GPAs strongly preferred).
- Major in accounting, math, finance, or related field preferred. May also consider candidates in other majors who are good at data, spreadsheets, etc.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud products is a plus.
