Position: 2026/27 Park View Elementary - Literacy Instructional Technician - TA168N (7.67)

Job Information

Literacy Instructional Technician – Lane 1 – $17.35 per hour.

Schedule:

Monday 2.67 hours per day, Tuesday 2 hours per day, Wednesday–Friday 1 hour per day; 7.67 hours per week; 5 days per week; 177 days per year. No benefits with this position. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply. This position includes an additional 0.5 hours per day of student supervision, paid at Lane 1, $17.35 per hour.

Placement on the salary schedule will be reviewed by a supervisor and finalized through the Human Resources and Payroll Departments. Candidates already employed with Nebo School District, applying for a new position with a lane increase, may see a decrease in overall steps in the new position if offered, accepted, and not in the same job category.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Criminal Justice Fingerprint / Background clearance required.

Purpose Statement

The job of a Literacy Instructional Technician is to improve students' success in basic academics (e.g., reading, language, and/or math); relieve teachers of clerical tasks; and assist students by modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments.

This job reports to the Building Principal.

This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics:

Essential Functions
  • Administers tests (e.g., monitoring, correcting, etc.) to assist the teacher in evaluating students' progress.
  • Administers student evaluation and progress assessments to provide information for teachers to determine the need for further individualized assessment and instruction.
  • Confers with teachers and other school personnel to assist in evaluating students' progress and/or implementing students' objectives.
  • Implements instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g., reading, math, language, comprehension, writing, computer, etc.) to assist the teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study.
  • Implements classroom materials under the direction of the teacher (e.g., reading, math, language, early childhood learning aids, etc.) to support and/or reinforce classroom objectives.
  • Monitors individuals and/or groups of students in various situations to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participates in in‑service workshops and training to receive and/or convey information related to job functions.
  • Provides direct instructional services to individuals and/or small groups of students under the supervision of the assigned classroom teacher (e.g., reading, math, self‑esteem, behavioral skills, early childhood activities, etc.) to implement goals for remediation of math, language, and reading deficits and ensure student success.
  • Responds to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, fights, etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
