Drafting Design Specialist

Mity Inc., a Utah County event furniture manufacturer is seeking a drafting and design engineer to join our engineering team in the creation of new and innovative product designs, as well as continual improvement of existing products.

The purpose of the drafting design engineer is to assist in the creation of new and innovative product designs, as well as continual improvement of existing products. They will work with a cross-functional team to create furniture and related products that are functional, attractive, useful, profitable, and meet the needs of the end users.

• Degree or certification in CAD-Drafting or 5+ years manufacturing industry drafting experience.
• Experience designing parametric models, assemblies, and drawings in Solid Works. Experience with Microsoft Suite of software. Adobe Creative Suite knowledge a plus.
• Portfolio or examples of previous sharable work helpful but not required
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles.
• Prior experience with furniture design, especially tables and seating in hospitality, public, and event settings is a plus.
• Strong creativity and design skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Create 2D manufacturing prints, including but not limited to: weldments, assemblies, fabrication drawings, molded parts and mold drawings
• Edit 3D models and help with prototypes to test and refine designs.
• Work in a team environment and collaborate with other departments.
• Assist with mechanical design challenges and ideation- bridging the gap between concept and manufacturing.
• Creation and organization of project documents such as design briefs and technical drawings
• Create and edit existing models
• All other duties as assigned
