The Electrical Engineering team member will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to support the transition of functional hardware prototypes to production‑ready devices. This role focuses on the design, development, and validation of custom, high‑performance PCBs for rugged outdoor environments. This position is ideal for students studying Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields with an interest in RF and satellite communication.
SummaryOf Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of production‑ready PCB packages.
- Assist with design verification and hardware functionality testing.
- Support data‑driven features by ensuring hardware compatibility with core firmware.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project goals for the Terra Scout device.
- Iterate on PCB designs based on feedback from field testing and pre‑compliance results.
- Must be a current UVU student.
- Must be avalible for 5-10 hours a week.
- Proficiency in PCB design software (e.g., Altium Designer) and hardware version control.
- Understanding of multi‑board design and hardware‑firmware interface definitions.
- Familiarity with LoRa mesh networking, cellular fallback, or satellite connectivity.
- Ability to design hardware hooks for debugging and field diagnostics.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to conduct functional validation and signal testing.
