We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale water and wastewater treatment plant projects in the Salt Lake City area. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing multiple superintendents, managing complex site logistics, and driving schedule, safety, and quality performance on technically demanding infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in:- Large municipal water/wastewater treatment facilities
- Underground utility installation
- Mechanical piping systems (process piping, large-diameter pipe, pump stations, etc.)
This role is hands-on, field-focused, and requires a leader who can coordinate civil, structural, and mechanical scopes while maintaining tight control of production and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all field operations for large water/wastewater treatment plant projects
- Manage and mentor superintendents, foremen, and field crews
- Oversee underground utility installation (storm, sewer, water, force mains, etc.)
- Coordinate mechanical piping installation, including process and yard piping
- Drive project schedules and ensure milestone performance
- Enforce strict safety compliance and quality control standards
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and municipal stakeholders
- Lead subcontractor coordination and sequencing across multiple scopes
- Maintain strong communication between field and executive leadership
- 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience
- 5+ years as a Superintendent or General Superintendent
- Proven experience delivering large-scale water or wastewater treatment plants
- Deep knowledge of underground utility construction
- Strong mechanical piping background (process piping, pump systems, treatment components)
- Experience working on municipal/public works projects
- Ability to manage large crews and complex, multi-trade environments
- Strong scheduling and production planning skills
- A field-first leader who sets the tone for safety and accountability
- Someone who understands the sequencing of civil + mechanical scopes
- A superintendent who can manage both dirt work and process installation
