Job Summary

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting a Senior Electrical Designer (Smart Plant) in Ogden, UT, to prepare electrical system designs for DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the USAF Sentinel program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase.

U.S. Citizenship is required Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site

Contract Duration: 12-month contract assignment supporting the Sentinel system in OGDEN, UTAH

Proposed start date: 10/05/26

Proposed end date: 10/04/27

Pay rate: $85.00/hour

Security Clearance required (This position must be filled by someone who either currently holds a security clearance or can obtain a security clearance)

In this role, you will plan, develop, and review electrical engineering design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project.

You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review key electrical drawings, calculations, and bid summaries.

You will solve complex technical issues and ensure electrical designs comply with all regulations and standards.

This position is for a Smart Plant 3D Designer who will prepare electrical 3D designs as well as 2D electrical AutoCAD and Smart Sketch designs to support new facility infrastructure design for DOD and USAF projects.

The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.

This role will support design development of electrical systems and equipment for the Sentinel project by preparing models, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.

The candidate will work with electrical engineers, junior designers, and other technical disciplines in a team environment with job responsibilities (include but not limited to):
Supporting, coaching, and training less experienced designers. Modeling of electrical rooms, equipment, cable tray, conduit, conduit duct bank, lighting, receptacles, etc. in a Smartplant 3D model environment. Creating bill of materials and drawing installation details for the modelled items listed above in addition to grounding, lightning protection, support details, and other details using Smart Sketch and AutoCAD. Performing calculations utilizing AGI 32 for lighting layouts and ETAP for ground grid layouts.

Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, i.e. input, interference reconciliation, etc. with other physical related disciplines. Responsible for physical design implementation by producing drawings of interior and exterior layouts/plans/elevation views of the raceway design (conduit/cable tray/duct bank), equipment location and layout, lighting layouts, lightning protection layouts, and grounding plans. Develop material specifications utilizing the software Specs Intact. Coordinate with systems engineering department to establish and verify design/project requirements.

Capable of independent creative design, with direction, using Bechtel and industry-proven concepts, and procedures. Ensures electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
