Job Description
1. Effectively supervises Mortgage Department personnel, ensuring optimal performance.
- Provides leadership to assigned mortgage loan officers through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication.
Works with employees to establish and meet department and individual goals. - Reviews loan documents and packages and verifies that loan officers are following established compliance procedures. When deficiencies are identified, affected employees are counseled and problems are resolved timely.
- Conducts regular staff meetings and one-on-ones.
- Ensures that personnel are well trained, effective, and optimally utilized and scheduled. Monitors training needs and implements programs as required.
- Promotes cross-selling of Bank retail products by mortgage loan officers and support staff. Set goals and tracks progress as needed.
- Conducts performance appraisals as required. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed.
- Provides support and assistance to mortgage loan officers as needed.
- Actively recruits and trains mortgage loan officers.
2. Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional completion of assigned loan origination functions.
- Interviews, takes applications, and processes preliminary documentation for loan requests. Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such a manner as to elicit positive responses from customers.
- Performs follow-up work as necessary to achieve conditional approval within established time frames.
- Notifies customer if loan is referred back to officer due to issues with ratios or credit ratings.
- Advises customers of loan approval or denial. Explains loan denials precisely and clearly to customers.
- Completes lending operations in accordance with established Bank policies and legal requirements.
3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relations with customers, realtors and building professionals.
- Answers questions and requests and resolves problems.
- Informs customers of Bank loan policies and services.
- Counsels customers regarding money management and financial matters.
Counsels customers whose loan requests were denied, explaining reasons and alternatives. - Maintains and projects the Bank's professional reputation.
4. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Bank personnel and with management.
- Coordinates functions with related departments and Branches and provides support as needed.
- Assists residential mortgage lending personnel as needed.
- Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
- Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required.
- Completes required records and reports.
5. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned, including:
- Maintaining the professional reputation of D.L. Evans Bank.
- Always Promoting D.L. Evans Bank.
- Serving as a representative for D.L. Evans Bank in the community.
- Keeping the work area clean, secure, and well-maintained.
- Completing special projects as assigned.
- Attending meetings as required.
- Fulfilling security responsibilities associated with this position.
