Family Haven is a nonprofit social services organization dedicated to building a community of happy, healthy individuals and families. With locations in Orem and Lehi, Utah, we provide a range of family support programs designed to strengthen relationships and promote long-term well-being.

Our Clinical team provides weekly therapy to children, adolescents, and families who have experienced stress, abuse, trauma, and other life challenges. As our services continue to grow, we are seeking a social work-minded Billing Specialist to join our team.

The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the billing process for clinical services, including insurance verification, claims submission, payment processing, accounts receivable follow-up, and provider credentialing. This role serves as a key point of contact for clients regarding billing and insurance matters and works closely with providers and clinical leadership to support high quality, client-centered care.

This position is client-facing and requires physical presence in our offices in Utah County during regular business hours.

• Manage full-cycle billing, including claim creation, submission, payment posting, and follow-up.
• Resolve accounts receivable issues, claim rejections, denials, and unpaid balances.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for new and existing clients.
• Process and reconcile payments from insurance companies and clients.
• Monitor and manage aging insurance and client balances.
• Communicate with clients regarding billing questions, account balances, payment plans, and insurance requirements.
• Collaborate with therapists and clinical leadership to identify funding options and establish payment arrangements when needed.
• Maintain, audit, and update electronic medical records to ensure billing accuracy.
• Maintain provider credentialing and re-credentialing with insurance payors.
• Keep insurance rosters and provider information current and accurate.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, insurance payor requirements, and organizational policies.
• Support continuous improvement of billing workflows and administrative processes.

• Experience with medical billing, behavioral health billing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing requirements.
• Experience with Valant EHR or other behavioral health EHR.
• Familiarity with Utah PRISM Medicaid Portal.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
