Emergency Response Roster – Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPHA) Technical Advisor

As a CPHA Technical Advisor, you will provide the strategic development and high‑quality implementation of child protection programming in World Vision’s humanitarian responses. Your role will include:
Key Responsibilities- Technical Leadership and Strategic Development
- Lead the development and timely revision of CPHA strategies in line with World Vision’s Response Strategy and the OCHA Humanitarian Response Plan.
- Collaborate with other sector teams to support integrated programmes for child‑wellbeing outcomes.
- Ensure CP considerations are mainstreamed into all World Vision sector strategies.
- Support the design and development of new CPHA project proposals and concept notes.
- Provide technical leadership for CPHA‑related case studies, learning reviews and publications.
- Organisation and Staff Capacity Building
- Promote technical excellence in applying humanitarian and child‑protection minimum standards.
- Develop contextualised training and guidance materials for CPHA staff and partners.
- Lead the hiring process for qualified local and expatriate staff.
- Support partnership identification and safeguarding mechanism strengthening.
- Facilitate training opportunities for CPHA and other sector teams.
- External Engagement and Networking
- Participate in (and when possible lead) CP AoR/sub‑cluster task forces and other relevant forums.
- Contribute to the development of the Humanitarian Response Plan and related processes.
- Build relationships with donors and explore CPHA‑focused funding opportunities.
- Coordinate with government ministries to strengthen formal CP systems.
- Leverage World Vision’s CPHA expertise to enhance external visibility.
- Assessing Monitoring and Reporting
- Ensure CP questions are included in assessments and develop a robust CPHA package.
- Conduct regular monitoring and analysis to inform future priorities.
- Support real‑time evaluation on CPHA activities and lessons‑learnt.
- Collaborate with MEAL to develop monitoring tools and build staff capacity.
- Review grant progress and M&E reports for compliance.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in humanitarian settings, with at least 2 years outside the home country.
- Understanding of humanitarian principles and best practices.
- Experience working in high‑pressure, rapid response environments with multiple risk factors.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Emotional intelligence and ability to manage high‑tension situations.
- Master’s degree in Social Work, International Development, Child Development, International Relations, Humanitarian Protection, Human Rights, or a related field.
- Certification (or equivalent) enabling facilitation of protection trainings and coaching.
- International driving license.
- Minimum 7 years in a technical role leading child protection response in humanitarian settings.
- Experience mentoring staff and mainstreaming protection into key sectors.
- Experience in donor‑related project design, proposal development, and grant acquisition.
- Experience in training development across diverse cultural and language contexts.
- Experience working in fragile/humanitarian settings is preferred.
- In-depth understanding of humanitarian architectures, cluster approaches, and funding cycles.
- Effective written and verbal communication in English.
- Proficiency in other UN languages such as French, Arabic, Spanish, or Portuguese is preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Long working hours, often exceeding 12 hours per day during response onset.
- Willingness to work in insecure or disaster‑prone contexts with potential safety risks.
- Work and housing environments may be below normal standards during responses.
- Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) or equivalent security training certificate.
- Previous experience in sectors such as Education, ECD, MHPSS, Food Security, or Cash.
