Autism Aid II at Giant Steps - Full Time
Join our team at Wasatch Behavioral Health as a Full-Time Autism Aide with the GIANT Steps Preschool Program in Orem, Utah! This rewarding opportunity offers a competitive wage of $18.40–$23.31/hour and the chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of preschool-aged children with autism spectrum disorder. GIANT Steps is a specialized day-treatment program that partners with local school districts to provide evidence-based, individualized services in a structured classroom environment.
As an Autism Aide, you'll take on an expanded role in supporting therapeutic interventions while working alongside therapists, educators, and families to help children build communication, social, behavioral, and daily living skills that prepare them for long-term success.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Compensation: $18.40–$23.31 DOE and Education

What You'll Do as an Autism Aid
- Support therapeutic, classroom, and daily living activities for preschool-aged children with autism.
- Implement and monitor individualized behavior support plans using evidence-based strategies.
- Observe each child's interests and strengths while encouraging meaningful engagement and skill development.
- Model appropriate social skills, communication, and daily routines throughout the day.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
- Supervise children while promoting communication, cooperation, independence, and positive behavior.
- Assist with daily preschool operations and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with therapists, teachers, and families to support each child's treatment goals.
- Document observations and client progress to support the clinical team.
- Step into a leadership role when needed by providing guidance and support to team members.
Qualifications
- High school diploma AND
- Two (2) years of relevant college coursework (Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or related field)
- One (1) year of experience as an Autism Aide I or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Patience, empathy, and professionalism when working with young children
- Ability to follow established guidelines and adapt to changing needs
- Experience with children or individuals with special needs preferred
- Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn
- Spanish-speaking applicants may qualify for a wage increase

Employment at Wasatch Behavioral Health is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, motor vehicle record review and criminal background check.
