As a member of the direct care staff, hours will vary from a minimum of 8 to a maximum of 40 hours per week, with an average of 16 to 24 hours per week.

On‑call staff must be available for 2–3 on‑call days per week.
Care techs work closely with patients, providing daily support and assistance with activities of daily living. They also participate in experiential therapies and groups such as recreational therapy, movement therapies, art therapy, music therapy, body‑image, and 12‑step programs.
Care techs work directly with patients on goal setting and follow‑up, enforce program rules, and encourage patients to develop coping skills.
