- We are looking for a skilled Word Accessibility Remediation Specialist to ensure documents meet accessibility standards such as WCAG and Section 508.
- The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in making Microsoft Word documents accessible for screen readers and users with disabilities.
- Remediate Microsoft Word documents for accessibility compliance – use Microsoft Word Accessibility Checker to identify and fix issues.
- Apply proper heading structures, styles, and document navigation; add accurate alt text to images, charts, and graphics; fix tables (headers, simple structure, no merged cell issues).
- Ensure correct reading order and logical content flow.
- Improve color contrast and document readability; create accessible hyperlinks and meaningful link text; convert accessible Word files to PDF when required.
- Perform accessibility validation using tools like NVDA or JAWS; collaborate with content/design teams to fix accessibility issues.
- 1‑4 years of experience in document accessibility or remediation.
- Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and/or Section 508 guidelines.
- Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Word accessibility features.
- Experience with screen readers such as NVDA or JAWS.
- Good understanding of document structure and formatting; attention to detail and quality.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro for PDF remediation.
- Familiarity with tools like PAC 3 for accessibility validation.
- Experience working with US/UK clients.
- Basic knowledge of HTML accessibility (ARIA, semantic tags).
