School Facilities Manager

The School Facilities Manager is a full-time non-exempt, salaried position with a 12-month work schedule, beginning July
1. Working hours for this position are 7:00am-3:00pm, subject to change at the school's discretion. The School Facilities Manager will report to the Director of Facilities and Safety.

Position Overview

The School Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing a conducive learning environment through the maintenance and facilities operation of a dedicated CLASSICAL school campus. This role will ensure the safety, functionality, and maintenance of buildings and grounds, overseeing HVAC, electrical, and cleaning services. Experience with all aspects of general commercial maintenance functions, including light plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and other basic repair skills.

This role is critical for ensuring the reliable operation of the school's mechanical systems, regulatory compliance, and long-term asset sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts regular inspections of the campus to identify and address maintenance needs promptly.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a disciplined schedule of critical tasks.
  • Diagnoses, coordinates, and oversees a wide variety of general repair tasks, including light plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs, including timely on-demand repairs and scheduled maintenance on buildings.
  • Ability to use and maintain equipment and job-related tooling safely and properly.
  • Ability to support building needs on an on-call basis if necessary.
  • Ability to maintain detailed and complete records of maintenance, repair, and testing activities.
  • Oversee the efficient use of classroom and office spaces, coordinating with school administration for any rearrangements or special setups as required.
  • Maintains an inventory of all equipment, furniture, and fixtures within the school campus.
  • Coordinates repairs, replacements, or acquisitions as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations and protocols, implementing measures to enhance campus safety for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Develops and implements emergency response plans, coordinating drills, and ensuring the availability of necessary resources for crisis situations.
  • Collaborates with the school administration in the development and management of the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions while meeting operational needs.
  • Skilled at developing and maintaining relationships with external vendors and contractors for facility-related services, ensuring timely completion of projects within budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure facilities are clean throughout the school day.
  • Conducts periodic safety inspections and other proactive facilities requests.
  • Performs other functions as assigned to ensure effective, safe, and smooth school operations.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in facilities management, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Experience in commercial repairs and maintenance.
  • Ability to self-manage and perform each essential duty beyond satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Familiarity with budget management and cost-control principles.
  • Great attitude and energetic approach to customer service.

Compensation, Benefits and Hiring

Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits offered for full-time employees include health benefits, paid vacation, personal days, paid holidays, and SERS retirement plan with employer contribution. Children will receive enrollment priority if a parent is a full-time employee at the time of enrollment. All employees will be required to pass background checks.
