Position Summary

The National Director is responsible for developing the national strategy in support of Client Experience, Operations and Go-to-Market Strategy to support regional execution across the designated business segment or operating group.

Primary Responsibilities
  • In conjunction with the President and other senior leaders, develop the National Go-to-Market Strategy, with fully supporting national resources for regional execution.
  • Partner with Sales to foster a sales culture and provide world class sales enablement.
  • Lead new business support with Sales Leaders and Advisors, focusing on largest, most complex clients.
  • Establish performance expectations for focus area with accountability measures.
  • Establish workflows for national and regional engagement of value-add resources in support of new and renewal business.
  • Create consistent client-facing documents with Marketing and ensure appropriate usage within brand guidelines.
  • Define national expectations by role within CRMG, establish performance expectations, and create visibility for regional reporting.
  • Develop national framework for regional execution of talent cultivation strategy.
  • Maintain deep insurance company partner relationships at all levels.
  • Push regional State of the Client execution, engaging on at-risk clients to ensure value proposition execution and retention.
  • Implement framework for regional execution of Peace of Mind Timeline and Client Stewardship.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and assist in professional development of team members to develop bench strength.
  • Build and sustain a high-performance culture by attracting, developing, and retaining highly motivated and effective teams.
  • Execute national compensation and T&E within budget.
  • Establish and maintain national NPS strategy with regional execution.
  • Represent Baldwin at national events and support regions in recruiting world class talent.
  • Create and foster collaboration among colleagues across different teams to continuously hone our edge.
  • Create and support a culture aligned with our Azimuth and supporting stakeholders.
Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Finance, or related field required. Graduate/Advanced Degree (Master’s, JD, Ph.D, etc.) preferred. Minimum 12 years of experience in insurance placement, underwriting, or brokerage with substantial leadership role; 15+ years preferred. Strong understanding of insurance products, regulations, market trends, and competitive landscape.

Certifications & Licenses

Preferred: CPCU, ARM, CIC. Must maintain all required state insurance licenses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent negotiation, decision-making, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Superior communication skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven track record in managing large distributed teams.
  • Servant-leader experience and relationships building.
  • Experience executing strategies in a de-centralized environment.
  • Strong influence, problem solving, and negotiation ability.
  • Ability to cast a strategic vision for others to follow.
Technical, Computer, and System-Specific Skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn other relevant firm software.

Other Requirements

Frequent travel required (75% or greater).
