Facilities Maintenance Technician

Core 4x4 designs and manufactures aftermarket suspension and steering components for Jeeps and trucks - control arms, track bars, steering kits, long arm kits, sway bar end links. Everything that carries our name is built in Orem, Utah by people who actually understand the vehicles. We're not a distributor. We're a real manufacturing shop building parts that go on real trucks.

ABOUT

THE ROLE

This is one of the most important roles in the shop. The entire operation runs on the equipment, systems, and building you'll be responsible for - CNC machines, robotic welding cells, powder coat line, compressors, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, forklifts, doors, structure. When any of it goes down, production stops. Your job is to keep that from happening.

This is a forward-thinking, self-managing, self-pacing role. You set your own day, build your own preventive maintenance schedule, prioritize what matters, and work directly with the team leads in each department to understand what they need and what's coming. Nobody is going to hand you a task list every morning. You're trusted to see what needs to happen and make it happen.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain and repair production equipment - CNC machines, Panasonic robotic welding cells, powder coat oven and line, compressors, ventilation, dust collection
  • Building maintenance - electrical, plumbing, HVAC, doors, lighting, structural
  • Forklift and material handling equipment service
  • Build, run, and continuously improve a preventive maintenance program that catches problems before they cost production hours
  • Work directly with each department's team lead to understand equipment needs, upcoming issues, and improvement opportunities
  • Manage outside vendor relationships when specialized service is required
  • Maintain tools, spare parts inventory, and an organized maintenance area
  • Respond fast to breakdowns when they happen - production can't wait
  • Look ahead - what's the next bottleneck, what's wearing out, what should we install or upgrade before it becomes a problem
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years industrial maintenance in manufacturing, fabrication, or similar
  • Strong mechanical, electric, and basic plumbing skills
  • Ability to diagnose problems on equipment you've never seen before
  • Welding and basic fabrication ability - this is a fab shop, you can fix it
  • Comfortable with PLCs and basic industrial controls
  • Self-managed - you can run your own day, set your own priorities, and stay ahead of the work
  • Forklift certified or willing to certify
  • Consistent, reliable attendance
Bonus:
  • Panasonic robotic welding cell maintenance and programming experience
  • CNC machine maintenance experience
  • Powder coat line experience
  • HVAC certification
  • Electrical license
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION HOW WE MEASURE YOU
  • Own It:
When a machine is down, it's your problem until it's running again. When you see something coming, you handle it before it breaks. Nobody has to point at it.
  • Build It Like It's Yours:
The shop runs on the systems you maintain. Half‑assed fixes that fail next month aren't acceptable. Do it right the first time.
  • Figure It Out:
Equipment you've never seen, problems with no manual, no manufacturer rep returning calls - you find a way. This role IS what "Figure It Out" means.
  • Never Settle:
Reactive maintenance is expensive. We want someone who builds out PMs, catches problems before they happen, and makes the shop run smoother every year. The way we run now isn't the way we run next year.
  • Be Straight:
When equipment is genuinely failing, say so. When we need to call in a specialist, say so. When a team lead is asking for something unrealistic, push back. Don't tape it together quietly.
THIS ISN'T THE RIGHT FIT IF
  • You only fix what's right in front of you and don't think about prevention
  • You need someone to tell you what to do every day
  • You take shortcuts that come back to bite us
  • You won't get your hands dirty on the building, plumbing, or "not my job" tasks
  • You can't communicate clearly with team leads across departments
  • You can't show up consistently - when you're not here, the whole shop is one breakdown from stopping
WHAT YOU GET
  • Competitive hourly pay ($28-$40/hr DOE)
  • Paid time off
  • Monday-Friday schedule with on-call availability for emergencies
  • A shop that takes care of the people who built it
  • Autonomy - you own this role end to end
