Job Description & How to Apply Below
Welder - Weld Shop
Core 4x4 designs and manufactures aftermarket suspension and steering components for Jeeps and trucks - control arms, track bars, steering kits, long arm kits, sway bar end links. Everything that carries our name is built in Orem, Utah by people who actually understand the vehicles. We're not a distributor. We're a real manufacturing shop building parts that go on real trucks.
ABOUTTHE ROLE
Welders at Core 4x4 are responsible for the structural integrity of every part that leaves the shop. Our control arms run 5/16 wall DOM tubing - heavier than most competitors - and they get bolted onto trucks that wheel Moab, tow trailers, and drive to work on Monday. The welds you put down have to hold up. Period.
RESPONSIBILITIES- MIG weld DOM tubing, plate, and brackets on suspension and steering components
- Work from fixtures and jigs to maintain dimensional accuracy and weld consistency
- Read engineering drawings, weld symbols, and bills of materials
- Inspect your own work for fit, finish, and weld quality before it moves to powder coat
- Maintain your station, equipment, and consumable inventory
- Hit production targets
- Flag fixture, material, or process issues before they become production problems
Required:
- 2+ years MIG welding on structural or chassis components (DOM tubing experience preferred)
- Ability to read prints, weld symbols, and BOMs
- Comfortable with jigs, fixtures, and production fabrication
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and stand throughout your shift
- Consistent, reliable attendance
Bonus:
- Major:
Experience operating or programming Panasonic robotic welding cells - TIG experience for repairing and fixing welds
- Familiarity with Jeep or 4x4 suspension geometry
- Experience in a build-to-order production environment
- Own It:
The welds you lay have your name on them. If something's off, you flag it or fix it before it leaves your station. - Build It Like It's Yours:
Someone is bolting this control arm to their truck and trusting it on a trail. Your welds reflect that. - Figure It Out:
When a fixture isn't right or a process isn't working, you bring options. You don't just complain. - Never Settle:
We want welders who get faster, sharper, and more consistent over time. Curious about new techniques, new alloys, new equipment. - Be Straight:
If a part isn't right, say so. If a process is dumb, say so. We'd rather hear it than ship junk.
- You're a one-pass-and-move-on welder who doesn't care about the part after it leaves your station
- You can't show up consistently
- You think welding is just laying beads - not building something
- You won't speak up when something's wrong
- Competitive hourly pay ($24-$32/hr DOE)
- Paid time off
- Monday-Friday schedule
- A shop that takes care of the people who built it
