Program Coordinator, Ameri Corps Student Success Program

Title: Program Coordinator (Ameri Corps Student Success Program)

Report To: Program Director (Ameri Corps Student Success Program)

Location: Ogden, UT;
Some state-wide travel may be required.

Hours: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-exempt (20-25 hours per week). UWNU hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm MST. Work hours are subject to change based on UWNU and/or site visits, events and activities happening in the community.

Compensation
:

Wage: $19-$22 hourly

Summary of Work: United Way of Northern Utah (UWNU) plays a unique role in the community. Having worked with partners in nonprofit, government, and the private sector for decades, we take a community-wide lens in measuring and understanding the impact of our effort and how we can do more. The department of Collective Impact at UWNU aims to improve educational outcomes for students, break the cycle of intergenerational poverty and increase partner collaboration to create system-level change for long-term impact.

With this in mind, we have co-created a Community School & Ameri Corps Student Success Program partnership with local school districts and other organizations to ensure children and families have the comprehensive support they need to succeed in school. As such, the primary function of the Program Coordinator (Ameri Corps Student Success Program) is to grow the scope, scale, and depth of the partnership, working with critical stakeholders in the process.

This includes Ameri Corps members, students, families, principals, school support staff, district personnel, community partners, private sector partners, and more.

About the Ameri Corps Student Success Program: The Ameri Corps Student Success Program (SSP) provides caring mentors in schools to help students increase engagement and discover their strengths. To do this, Ameri Corps members work 1:1 with a caseload of students to help them increase attendance, improve academic abilities, ensure basic needs are met, and support social/emotional growth. They also provide Ameri Corps members with excellent training and support as they gain marketable skills and experience and prepare for a lifetime of meaningful contributions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and execution of on-boarding and off-boarding procedures of Ameri Corps members and member recruitment efforts.
  • Share accountability for data collections and information gathering with Ameri Corps members.
  • Coordinate regular meetings for Ameri Corps members and host sites.
  • Responsible for training program members and support in training host site staff to ensure they understand program goals, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure timely communication amongst United Way of Northern Utah team members, Ameri Corps members, and host school site team members, and other entities, as designated.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Ameri Corps members assigned to the team member’s cohort.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Ameri Corps member’s school supervisor who are assigned to team member’s cohort.
  • Monitor Ameri Corps member’s data entry responsibilities/time tracking and offer assistance and guidance and accountability, as needed.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes academic achievement and personal growth.
  • Assist in preparing regular progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
