The Groundskeeper performs landscaping tasks using power equipment and hand tools to maintain the facility's grounds.
Essential Functions- Performs a variety of grounds maintenance duties.
- Operates electric and gas-powered trimming equipment such as walk behind mowers, string trimmers and edgers.
- Mows, trims, weeds, plants, prunes, generally maintains lawns, shrubs, trees, and grounds.
- Assists in laying sod.
- Assists in installing sprinkler systems.
- Assists in a variety of concrete work.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Skills in using hand tools, small and large power tools, gardening tools, pruning shears, etc.
- Skills in operating gas-powered lawn mowing equipment, e.g. walk‑behind lawn mower.
- Skills in using trimming and pruning equipment.
- Must be 16 years old or older.
- Prior experience is preferred, but not required.

- Interacts and collaborates with other employees, leaders, forepersons and supervisors, school administrators and secretaries in schools.

- Work takes place primarily outdoors in all seasons, types of weather, and air quality, including 100 plus degrees and below freezing temperatures.
- Work takes place around and near play fields and playground equipment, care must be taken to keep students and school staff safe.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and/or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel objects and must occasionally climb or balance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
