Overview
The seasonal grounds worker supports the care, appearance, and daily functionality of the Ogden Botanical Gardens through hands‑on landscape and facility maintenance. This position assists with maintaining gardens, grounds, irrigation systems, and public spaces to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for visitors and community programs.
Responsibilities- Planting, weeding, pruning, mulching, irrigation system upkeep, installation, and repairs.
- Mowing and other landscape maintenance.
- Pest and weed management.
- General groundskeeping.
- Operating landscape equipment such as a zero‑turn lawnmower, push mower, weed whacker, chemical and spray tanks, or side‑by‑side.
- Assisting with basic facility upkeep, volunteer projects, and garden installation.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, gardening practices, and horticulture.
- Valid driver’s license for driving university vehicles and transporting materials.
- Must be 18 years of age or older to meet university driver training eligibility requirements.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the work site.
$15.50 per hour.
ADA ConsiderationsThis position requires moderate physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting. It involves nearly continuous standing, repetitive hand motions, and reaching overhead. Individuals may be exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. Appropriate safety procedures and personal protective equipment may be required.
