The Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an opening for an Associate or Full Professor-level faculty. We seek a candidate who will serve as the director of the University of Utah''s Translational Research:
Implementation, Analysis and Design (TRIAD) Team which includes more than 40 master''s and PhD trained biostatisticians and research methodologists in related quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including health economics, survey design, qualitative research, dissemination and implementation, and systematic review. TRIAD is one of nine cores within the University of Utah''s Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) which supports biomedical research across the University of Utah and affiliated institutions.
The CTSI''s mission is innovation, education and services to drive research that advances health. It is funded by the NCATS Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program. TRIAD is a multi-departmental group, whose biostatistics faculty have primary appointments primarily in the Division of Epidemiology in the Department of Internal Medicine and in the Division of Biostatistics in the PHS department.
The successful candidate will oversee and develop TRIAD, collaborate with biomedical researchers, support and develop grant proposals, advise graduate students, and perform methodological research, and will have the opportunity to teach in the Biostatistics Ph.D. emphasis in the PHS Ph.D. program. We are particularly interested in candidates who possess the research skills and experience required to successfully lead multi-disciplinary research teams within the institution and in national and international research networks as well as pursue independent and collaborative methodological research in Biostatistics.
Methodological interest and experience are desired, but not limited to, the following areas: (1) design and analysis of observational studies, (2) design and analysis of clinical trials, (3) causal inference, (4) implementation science methodology, (5) data integration, (6) machine learning, (7) ‘omics (e.g., metabolomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics), (8) social/behavioral science, and (9) longitudinal and multilevel data analysis. Appointed faculty will have exceptional opportunities to conduct cutting-edge research in biostatistics, collaborate with multidisciplinary faculty, and work in close partnership with health care systems and community-based agencies both in the Salt Lake City area and state of Utah but also around the United States and globally.
The University of Utah offers highly competitive salary and start-up packages and exceptional benefits. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and the start date is flexible. The job announcement will remain active until the positions are filled.
