Research Assistant/Associate
Position Announcement
In this position, students will be assisting with field research. This will include assisting with fieldwork prep (e.g., prepping and packing equipment, prepping datasheets, etc.), and assisting in fieldwork activities (e.g., photography and video recording of behavior, data collection and entry, etc.). Additional data entry and processing may be required after the fieldwork is completed. This position will total 20 hours across a multi-week period.
SummaryOf Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Gathering, compiling, cleaning, and entering data
- Assisting with transcription and/or coding of qualitative data
- Assisting in programming, coordinating, and conducting survey research, focus groups, and other data collection efforts
- Assisting in producing and analyzing data files
- Producing summaries of data from data sets.
- Assisting with the department's social media posts and digital signs
- Must be a current UVU student
- Completed all necessary IACUC training and be added to Dr. Cusick's IACUC protocol
- Completed the required trip planning meetings with Dr. Cusick, and reading on marine mammal research techniques associated with this project.
- Prior experience with behavioral video scoring and ethogram application
- Completed or currently enrolled in Special Topics in Biology - BIOL 4900R 001:
Evolutionary Behavioral Ecology or BIOL 4890R I56 (this can be waived only with Dr. Cusick's approval).
