the highland local school district has an opening for a head cook at sharon elementary school, 5 hours per day, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm each school day.
qualificationshigh school diploma or g.e.d. Is required. Food safety certification preferred, but not required.
leadership experience is desirable. Experience which demonstrates the knowledge and skill to perform the job duties as described. This person will also need to obtain background checks.
- provide oral and written instructions to kitchen staff
- direct the preparation of food
- arrange and direct the appropriate storage of food and supplies
- determine work schedule assignments for food service cooks
- maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, parents and students
- monitor quantity, quality and safety of food items
- plan the preparation of meals for serving at specified mealtimes
- maintain a variety of records related to meals served
- schedule for maintenance and repairs of kitchen equipment
- monitor and maintain inventory
- order food and supplies in sufficient quantities for weekly meals
the person selected to fill this position will be placed at the appropriate step of the salary schedule contained in the negotiated agreement between the highland support staff association (hssa) and the highland board of education.
