Location

MtCarmel, Utah. (Zion Mountain Ranch located 3miles from the East Entrance of Zion National Park.)

Job Summary

The Cook position is an entry‑level role responsible for basic food preparation, cooking, and kitchen support in the Cordwood Restaurant or the Get Outpost Cafe. Seasonal dates:
March
15 – November
1.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparation and cooking of basic food items under instruction of the CooksII, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager.
  • Follow recipes, portion guidelines, and Serv Safe standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and food storage areas.
  • Perform basic kitchen tasks such as chopping, peeling, and ingredient preparation.
  • Assist with dishwashing, kitchen cleanup, and trash removal.
  • Maintain inventory levels of kitchen supplies and ingredients.
  • Deliver excellent guest service in a café setting, anticipating needs and providing friendly service.
  • Assist with meal prep, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Prepare handmade pizzas and operate the pizza oven, ensuring proper cooking techniques and portion control.
  • Handle cash transactions, balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts, and safeguard against errors and theft.
  • Ensure the café remains clean and organized, including dining areas, kitchen spaces, and prep stations.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, personal hygiene practices, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with co‑workers to maintain a positive, efficient, and team‑oriented environment.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Positive interpersonal skills, honesty, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Ability to remain calm and friendly in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Physical ability to work on feet for extended periods and lift up to 25lbs.
  • Entry‑level position; no prior experience required. Culinary school or kitchen experience is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to obtain or already possess Utah Food Handlers Certification.
