Retail & Store Manager, Operations Manager
Location:
100 Utah Ave South, San Francisco, California 94080. Pay Range: $120,000–$130,000. This position is eligible for a monthly bonus based on performance goals after training is completed.
- Execute the retail operations plan to achieve target growth in profit, revenue, and production across multiple store locations.
- Spend time in stores with retail teams and customers to identify critical business issues and align tactics with strategy.
- Coordinate with Store Managers to set objectives, monitor product levels, and meet sales budget targets.
- Collaborate with senior retail leadership to generate future retail initiatives, maintaining market knowledge, competitor analysis, and trend awareness.
- Partner with retail leadership to facilitate the annual budget process and with HR to achieve people‑management goals.
- Ensure store locations deliver excellent customer service, maintain cleanliness and brand standards, and promote Goodwill’s mission.
- Serve as a Goodwill ambassador within the community, building relationships with local businesses and organizations.
- Train and oversee store leadership to fulfill duties, allocating resources among locations to maximize performance.
- Ensure district compliance with security, health and safety policies, influencing necessary changes to meet statutory requirements.
- Own performance management, coaching, discipline, and annual reviews for Store Managers and staff.
- Lead and develop 10–14 Store Managers and indirectly support 20–28 Assistant Store Managers, 10–14 Customer Service Managers, and 350–490 Team Members.
- Meet or exceed district revenue (~$30M annually) and operating income metrics.
- Oversee the operation of 10–14 retail locations and manage production output of $5.6–7.8million monthly.
- Conduct weekly store audits, write reflections and recaps, and coordinate monthly manager meetings.
- Monitor safety and asset‑protection audits, address opportunities, and collaborate with facilities on work‑order escalations.
- Coordinate with Recruiting for store staffing needs, onboarding, and hire new staff.
- Handle escalated customer care concerns and lead resolution discussions.
- Review and manage P&L, spending approvals, and leader incentives, working with finance on discrepancies.
- Chair committees as assigned and support company culture change and change‑management processes.
- Travel to each location at least once a week, maintaining a reliable transportation arrangement, and coordinate truck routes and transportation needs.
- Maintain consistent in‑person attendance, work a closing shift and one Saturday shift monthly, and attend quarterly quality‑audit visits as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of retail management experience in a multi‑store organization, with demonstrated success in developing and growing a retail store chain.
- 3+ years of experience with a retail inventory POS computer system (preferred).
- 5+ years of supervisory experience and business‑operations management (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and to speak and read English proficiently.
