Responsibilities- Patrols University Properties in a vehicle and on foot to provide security and enforce traffic laws.
- Responds to public calls for service.
- Enforces Federal, State, Local, and University laws and regulations.
- Arrests and/or issue citations to violators of the law.
- Conducts formal investigations of criminal activity.
- Prepares case reports and other forms of documentation.
- Testifies in court of law and University hearings.
- Attends a minimum of 40 hours of training as required by Utah POST.
- Maintains a working relationship with state and local law enforcement agencies.
- Performs public relations activities.
- Assists fellow officers at special functions as assigned.
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent and P.O.S.T graduate.
- Applicant must be currently a Certified Law Enforcement Officer, Certified Special Functions Officer, or certifiable as a State of Utah Law Enforcement Officer.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Knowledge of the Utah State Code, local laws, and ordinances.
- Skills in the use of a firearm and able to qualify semiannually.
- Skills in the operation of a vehicle in emergencies.
- Skills in investigative procedures.
- Skills in interpersonal communication and problem-solving.
- Ability to work effectively in high‑stress situations and show good decision‑making.
- Ability to operate computer software (word processor, report writing system).
- Ability to walk, run, and stand for long periods.
- Ability to maintain control in a high‑stress situation.
- Ability to pass a full background investigation.
