Install Assistant – Level 1

Role SummaryThe Install Assistant – Level 1 is an entry-level position designed for individuals beginning their career in sign and awning installation. This role focuses on safety awareness, basic construction skills, and supporting installation crews with tools, materials, and job-site preparation. Level 1 Assistants work under close supervision and are expected to demonstrate reliability, safe work practices, and the ability to follow instructions.
Successful completion of Level 1 requirements prepares employees for advancement within the Install Assistant career path.
- Assist with installing interior and exterior signage under direct supervision
- Support basic installation tasks, including:
- Carrying and positioning sign components
- Drilling, bolting, fastening, and sealing
- Measuring and marking installation locations
- Assist with installation of:
- Channel letters
- Wall and cabinet signs
- Freestanding, custom, and directional signs
- Basic LED, fluorescent, and electrical components (training provided)
- Assist with basic repairs, cleanup, and part replacement at job sites
- Support mixing and carrying materials for sign footings (cement, sand, Sakrete)
- Learn basic welding concepts and assist as directed
- Assist with loading and unloading tools, ladders, and materials
- Safely use basic hand tools and power tools
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in clean, organized condition
- Complete required safety training, including:
- Ladder safety training and testing
- Fall protection training and testing
- OSHA 10 certification
- Follow all company safety rules, installation procedures, and quality control standards
- Valid Driver's License (required).
- Ability to pass a DOT medical exam (no CDL required).
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- U.S. Work Authorization.
- Ability to work outdoors and at heights when required.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Basic math skills and ability to read a tape measure
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
- Positive attitude and commitment to safety.
- Welding, electrical, or construction experience is a plus
- Basic welding experience (preferred, but not required).
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools (preferred)
- Reliable attendance and compliance with company policies
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Maintains full-time status (minimum 35 hours per week)
- Uses time constructively and follows attendance policy
