Position: Create Better Health Youth Programming Intern

Overview

At Create Better Health Hub, our mission is to strengthen food and nutrition security systems and empower Utahns at every stage of life to make healthier choices. We accomplish this by building strong networks, advancing community-centered research, expanding the nutrition workforce, delivering evidence-based education, sharing impactful stories, and supporting sustainable community solutions.

We are seeking a qualified individual for an 8‑week internship (25 hours per week) starting as early as May 1, 2026 to support the piloting of multiple Create Better Health youth programs. The internship will be housed under the state office, but most internship activities will take place in Cache County.

Responsibilities

Program Operations & Evaluation

  • Provide food demos and small activities for youth at community booths
  • Teach CBH curriculum to multiple age groups ranging from 3 years old to high school age.
  • Survey and collect data to show effectiveness of programs

Partnership & Event Coordination

  • Assist in planning and execution of Kids Camps with various local partnerships
  • Strengthen local community partnerships
  • Connect participants with local community resources to improve health access
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children
  • Experience or education in a nutrition, education, health promotion or related field
  • Have a continuous growth mindset
  • Self-motivated
  • Can keep tasks well organized
  • Reliable transportation to be able to get to activities and events around Cache Valley

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a current food handlers permit
Advertised Salary

$16.00 an hour

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).

Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation.

Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
