Position OverviewThe Apache Telephone Interpreter handles calls on demand, rendering the meaning of conversations between Apache and English speakers. The role operates in a wide range of industries served by Language Line Solutions, including Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Finance, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911. The interpreter processes information quickly and concisely while recognizing sensitive cultural differences, maintaining professionalism and courteousness at all times, and using appropriate terminology and common industry procedures.
Sessions may involve simple or complex, technical or non‑technical subjects, and calls can be emotional or stressful.
- Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
- Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocols, avoiding omissions or additions.
- Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
- Maintain a professional demeanor throughout all sessions.
- Remain calm during sessions in which a primary speaker is incoherent, upset, or in emergency situations such as 911 calls.
- Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
- Follow client instructions in compliance with protocol to ensure the Limited English‑speaking Person (LEP) receives the intended service.
- Understand industry terminology and protocols for Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law, among others.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and commitment to working in a diverse environment.
- Handle calls that may be highly emotional or stressful, remaining on calls for extended periods when necessary and managing high call volumes.
- Fluency in Apache and English, and cultural competency in regional and accent variations.
- Excellent listening, retention, and note‑taking skills to maintain accuracy.
- Ability to concentrate, remain detached and objective, and stay neutral during sensitive subject matters.
- Experience handling sensitive subjects such as end‑of‑life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and discussions about sexual orientation or gender expression.
- Background in language‑related fields such as teaching, assessment, translation, or interpretation preferred.
- Minimum age 18 and legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and write the requested languages is highly preferred.
- Acceptance of a post‑offer, pre‑employment background check, and/or drug screen as required by location.
- Personal device for business purposes (desktop or laptop).
- Operating systems:

OS. - Tablets (iPadOS or Android) and smartphones (iOS or Android) are acceptable.
- Prohibited brands:
Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware. - High‑speed internet connection with download speeds ≥5
Mbps, upload speeds ≥3
Mbps, ping ≤300ms, jitter ≤30ms. - Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
- Operate a keyboard and mouse and remain stationary in front of a computer for the majority of the workday.
- Operate company‑provided software and systems to perform all job functions.
- Manual dexterity sufficient for typing or writing.
- Lift up to 26lbs as needed.
- May be exposed to moderate noise levels from computer, audio, or telephone equipment.
