Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Production Fixture Systems Engineer to support the production of defense related drones and payloads. The Production Fixture Systems Engineer designs and develops hardware and software solutions for test and production fixtures to enable efficient and reliable production of drone systems for defense related use. This role involves selecting and integrating off‑the‑shelf components as well as working with electrical and mechanical engineers to design custom components for test fixtures that test fully completed drones and sub‑assemblies.
Strong software skills are required – including development, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the test application development process. This position will require the ability to implement basic algorithms and state machines and work with other engineers from different disciplines. US citizenship is required for this position; we are unable to hire Green Card holders, individuals who need a work visa, or who will require work visa sponsorship in the future.
- Work with development engineers to understand new products and write test requirements.
- Work with production teams to understand production environment and develop fixtures and processes compatible with the current production process.
- Modify existing electromechanical test fixtures through software, electrical, and system engineering.
- Select and interface with off‑the‑shelf sensors, actuators, and electro‑mechanical devices.
- Work on projects in C, C++, and Python in a Linux‑based development environment.
- Debug and repair existing fixtures.
- Travel to production sites to debug existing fixtures and deploy new fixtures.
- Design and implement basic algorithms and state machines.
- Develop software for a variety of embedded devices running Linux or bare metal such as cameras and other sensors.
- Perform low‑level debugging with logic analyzer or oscilloscope.
- Assist engineering with building and testing of prototypes.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree required in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years as a professional software developer (5+ years preferred).
- Experience in C, C++, Java, Python.
- Experience in embedded software development, including low‑level device drivers (I2C, UART, SPI).
- Experience reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Comfortable in Linux, shell scripting, configuring, installation and setup.
- Experience in board bring‑up and peripheral integration.
- Expertise in C and/or C++ programming on embedded Linux or similar systems.
- Python, radio, networking and test development skills are assets.
