Overview
Surgery Scheduler - Orthopaedics | Orland Hills
Position Highlights- Full-Time, 40 hours/week
- Hours:
Monday–Friday; 7:30am–4:00pm or 8:00am–4:30pm - Location:
Orland Hills - Travel:
Expected to travel as needed for coverage or to work with provider's schedules - Training held in Orland Hills for the first 90 days from 7:30am–4:00pm

- Greet patients in a friendly manner, whether on the phone or in person
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal physicians and scheduling staff at facilities
- Verify patient personal and insurance information; coordinate pre-op testing per insurance
- Serve as a single point-of-contact for internal staff and external inquiries for all scheduled procedures
- Schedule and/or reschedule pre-op lab and/or other testing before procedures and surgeries if necessary
- Contact patients to confirm procedure/surgery and explain proper prep instructions
- Prepare all essential paperwork for referral coordinator and facilities
- Verify daily doctors' schedules and distribute to appropriate personnel
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Work with billing staff to ensure procedures are charged
- Cover/fill-in for co-workers as needed
- Track case volume and direct cases to facilities per management direction
- Medical terminology, verbal and written
- CPT and ICD coding knowledge
- Referral process familiarity
- Ability to learn new computer programs
- Professional conduct toward customers, physicians, and co-workers
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Time management skills
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years in surgery scheduling, telephone, computer, and customer service experience
The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $16.30–$24.50/hour, with actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
