- Livingroom role at Trinity Services Inc.
Trinity Services is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) to work in the Living Room Program, a comfortable, home‑like environment designed to assist individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Guests are provided with support to promote recovery and develop a personalized action plan. The RSS plays a vital role in this process, working collaboratively with Living Room staff to ensure a safe and supportive space.
Note: Lived experience as a consumer of mental health or substance use disorder services is required.
Location: Orland Park, IL
Program/Service: Living Room Program
Schedule/Shift: 11pm-7am
Salary: $36,500 – $47,500 commensurate with experience

Essential Functions- Provide support to guests experiencing a mental health crisis.
- Assist guests in developing an action plan to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Teach and utilize problem‑solving techniques, strategies for combating negative self‑talk, and methods for overcoming fears in both one‑on‑one and group settings.
- Promote self‑directed recovery tools and strategies.
- Help guests identify strengths, recovery goals, and barriers while determining appropriate interventions.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating effective coping techniques, self‑help strategies, and self‑care.
- Monitor and report guests’ progress toward their recovery objectives.
- Support guests in developing a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) or Peer‑to‑Peer plan.
- Participate in relevant training, meetings, and seminars to enhance RSS skills.
- Identify high‑risk indicators and collaborate with the team to take appropriate action.
- Assist guests in developing self‑advocacy and empowerment skills to combat stigma.
- Conduct outreach and follow‑ups with Living Room guests.
- Knowledge of the Living Room model.
- Able to make independent decisions and problem‑solve.
- Able to deal tactfully with guests, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Able to work harmoniously with Trinity employees.
- Must have the willingness to work with guests, staff, and visitors at various maturity levels.
- Able to contribute to positive morale.
- Able to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strongly self‑motivated.
- Be able to lift over 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted.
- Be able to push and pull 75 pounds.
- Be able to complete deep knee squats.
- Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Operate motor vehicles.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment.
- Physical activities that could be used include: driving, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion.
- Lived experience as a consumer of mental health or substance use disorder services.
- GED or higher education.
- Strong public speaking and communication skills.
- Experience as either a consumer of or facilitator of support groups.
- Basic computer skills for service documentation.
- Non‑judgmental, empathetic, and effective teaching skills.
- Valid driver’s license and current auto liability insurance, including uninsured motorist coverage.
- Preferred but not required:
Current Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) certification or willingness to pursue it. - Preferred but not required: WRAP certification or willingness to obtain it.
