Pay Range

$15-$20/hr is the estimated base rate for this position. Final offers are based on skill set, experience, location, and qualifications.

Summary

The Seamstress/Tailor’s primary responsibility is to fulfill Buckle’s mission statement: “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The Seamstress/Tailor performs operational tasks to support the execution of alterations in the store, including hemming of jeans and pants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform quality alterations on merchandise, following ticket instructions and Guest specifications.
  • Accommodate on‑spot Guest alterations requested by Store Leaders, meeting deadlines and Guest expectations.
  • Use Buckle‑provided sewing machine and supplies to alterations, measuring, marking, pinning, and resewing garments.
  • Press merchandise using hand iron or steamer, remove spots or stains, and record all work on the alteration log.
  • Uphold productivity guidelines, generally four jean alterations per hour, and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Communicate policy violations and merchandise handling concerns to Store Manager, Assistant Manager, and Floor Leaders in a timely, confidential manner.
  • Provide feedback on Store Manager, Assistant Manager, and Floor Leaders regarding merchandise handling concerns.
  • Understand and apply Buckle’s Code of Ethics and all Buckle policies, procedures, and handbook.
  • Fulfill mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive team spirit.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related sewing, fitting, and alteration experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Required to walk, climb or balance, jump, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit. Physical ability to lift and maneuver 25 lbs throughout the store and backroom. Specific visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
