Accounting Assistant, Accounts Receivable/ Collections

A growing construction services organization based in South Orlando is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist with a strong construction accounting background. This is a full-time, onsite role supporting a multi-entity environment, with a starting salary of $55,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package and yearly evaluations.
Core Responsibilities- Manage full cycle Accounts Payable, both manual and automated, including 2-way matching, purchase order validation, and approval workflows
- Prepare and issue manual checks and process ACH payments
- Verify invoices against purchase orders, contracts, and proof of work completion prior to payment
- Support job cost tracking by coding expenses accurately by job, phase, and cost code
- Prepare and process AIA billings, including applications for payment, lien waivers, and related supporting documentation
- Collaborate with project managers and operations to ensure timely and accurate billing and cost reporting
- Perform Accounts Receivable functions, including customer invoicing, progress billing, and monitoring AR aging
- Export AP files and maintain an organized digital filing system using Adobe and internal workflows
- Prepare journal entries and support general ledger maintenance
- Manage payroll-related journal entries and allocations by job or location, and prepare payroll reports for review by the VP of Accounting or Controller
- Assist with special projects and process improvements as the business continues to scale
- Take on additional responsibilities as familiarity with the company and industry deepens
- Minimum of 2 plus years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience in a construction or project-based environment
- Bilingual English and Spanish highly preferred
- Demonstrated experience with AIA billing is required
- Strong understanding of job costing and construction fundamentals
- Prior experience in construction, specialty contracting, or a similar services industry required
- Proficiency in Excel at a basic to intermediate level
- Experience with Sage, Oracle, or comparable accounting systems preferred

This position reports directly to a supportive accounting leadership team that values accuracy, ownership, and professional growth. Work Setup and Benefits- Fully onsite role, Monday through Friday
- Hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch
