Client Overview

Our client is a well-established CPA firm located in Orlando, FL, with over 30 years of experience providing tax preparation, bookkeeping, and consulting services. They are expanding their team and looking to add an Accounting Assistant
.

Salary/Hourly Rate

$20/hr - $25/hr

Position Overview

The Accounting Assistant will support daily accounting and administrative operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative office environment and plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and strong client relationships.

Responsibilities of the Accounting Assistant
  • Perform data entry for individual tax returns, including 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ forms.
  • Prepare and issue invoices using CCH Practice Management for tax, audit, and bookkeeping services.
  • Manage billing and collections, including following up on outstanding balances and communicating with clients.
  • Apply client payments to outstanding invoices and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Provide general bookkeeping support using Quick Books, including generating reports and cutting checks.
  • Create and maintain client files, ensuring proper organization and document retention.
  • Scan, file, and securely shred documents as needed.
  • Mail tax forms and financial documents to clients and tax authorities with tracking.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls.
  • Order office supplies and assist with general office administration.
Required Experience/Skills for the Accounting Assistant
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an office or accounting support role.
  • Experience with billing, invoicing, and collections.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly when working with clients.
Preferred Experience /Skills for the Accounting Assistant
  • Experience working in a CPA firm or accounting environment.
  • Familiarity with Quick Books.
  • Experience with CCH Practice Management or similar software.
Education Requirements
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
