Westminster Communities of Florida, a nationally recognized not-for-profit church related organization, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance and accounting team in our management office near downtown Orlando. This position will play a key role in the financial management of a prominent not-for-profit organization. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization’s financial reporting processes.
Essential Job Functions: 1. Financial Recordkeeping:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
* Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of bank statements and accounts. 2. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Assist in the preparation of budget-to-actual reports and variance analyses.
* Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (e.g. GAAP) and relevant regulations (e.g. OIR).
* Support the annual audit process by preparing necessary documentation and liaising with both internal and external auditors. 4. Data Management:
- Utilize accounting software to maintain financial data and generate reports.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all financial systems.
Collaboration:
* Work closely with managers and supervisors to provide financial guidance and support.
* Collaborate with other departments to facilitate effective financial operations.
* Works closely with community team members to provide assistance and support. 6. Process Improvement:
* Identify opportunities for process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
* Assist in the implementation of new financial policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
Experience, Basic Knowledge and Abilities: 1-3 years accounting experience Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and practices. Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Acumatica, Sage) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail Strong organizational and time management abilities EOE, DFWP – “We honor those who have served.”
