OverviewOur client is seeking a Legal Accountant to support accounting operations and legal billing activities while serving as an escalation point for billing-related issues. This position reports directly to the Controller and is ideal for a mid-level accounting professional with strong financial reporting experience.
Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, reconciliations, and month-end close activities
- Oversee accounts payable, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements
- Monitor accounts receivable, collections, and billing issue resolution
- Coordinate legal billing, prebills, invoicing, and billing adjustments
- Administer trust accounting (IOLTA) and ensure regulatory compliance
- Support payroll processing and serve as a liaison with payroll providers
- Prepare financial reports, assist with audits, budgeting, and forecasting
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5+ years of accounting experience
- Strong financial reporting and general accounting background
- Knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Legal accounting, legal billing, or professional services experience preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Competitive salary up to $85,000 DOE
- High-visibility role reporting directly to the Controller
