This role is ideal for an experienced Accounts Payable leader who has successfully managed complex, high-volume operations and is ready to take ownership of a significant shared services function.
Key Responsibilities of the Director of Accounts Payable include:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership over the Accounts Payable function
- Oversee high-volume invoice processing, payment operations, vendor management, and related AP activities
- Lead and develop AP managers, supervisors, and accounting professionals while establishing clear performance expectations
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor payments while maintaining strong financial controls
- Establish and monitor Accounts Payable KPIs, service levels, productivity metrics, and operational performance
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations to resolve issues and improve workflows
- Drive automation, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives across the procure-to-pay process
- Strengthen policies, procedures, and internal controls while ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements
- Oversee vendor escalations and complex payment or reconciliation issues
- Support month-end and year-end close, audits, reconciliations, and financial reporting requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve scalability, efficiency, accuracy, and the overall effectiveness of Accounts Payable operations
Qualifications for the Director of Accounts Payable include:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required
- 7+ years of progressive Accounts Payable or shared services experience
- 3+ years of significant leadership experience within a high-volume Accounts Payable environment
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing complex AP operations
- Strong knowledge of full-cycle Accounts Payable, procure-to-pay processes, vendor management, internal controls, and payment operations
- Experience working within a large, multi-entity organization strongly preferred
- Healthcare, shared services, or similarly complex corporate environment experience is a plus
- Strong ERP and financial systems experience
- Experience driving process improvement, automation, and operational efficiencies
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements
