Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Our client is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Controller to lead the accounting function and manage a team of three (AP, Payroll, and Staff Accountant). This individual will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, improving processes, and supporting the CFO in overseeing all accounting operations. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in accounts payable and project accounting, who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment, and has the leadership ability to guide both onsite and remote staff effectively.

The Controller will oversee all day-to-day accounting operations and manage a team while ensuring accurate financial reporting and process improvements.

• Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
• Manage and mentor a team of three.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closes for multiple entities.
• Implement and maintain robust accounting policies, processes, and internal controls.
• Coordinate with external CPA firm for audits, tax compliance, and technical accounting support.
• Work closely with the CFO on financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis.
• Support allocation of shared administrative costs across business units.
• Serve as a resource and mentor to the team.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility.
• Strong expertise in accounts payable and closing processes.
• Experience with multi-entity structures, preferably in construction, design, or related industries.
• Demonstrated success managing both onsite and remote employees.
• Ability to work onsite full-time.
• Strong multitasking skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
