Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing in a timely and accurate manner monthly and quarterly and annually journal entries and variance analysis in accordance with the Accounting close schedule. Provide timely submission of information and analysis to manager for both internal and external audit requests. The senior account is expected to work independently and assist the other Accountants with complex accounting concepts and/or review the work of others on basic accounting entries.
Role reports to the General Accounting manager.
Essential Details and Responsibilities
Financial:
- Support preparation and distribution of monthly accounting management reports and statistical analysis based upon areas within accounting such as but not limited to cash, accruals, accounts receivable, accounts payable, intercompany reconciliations, and inventory
- Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close for areas of functional responsibility. Activities performed include preparation of accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, management reports and other financial analysis as required.
- Ensures accurate and timely compilation of accounting information, analysis and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Company policies and procedures
- Detailed analysis and preparation of reports for the Executive Management of the Company
- Support Accounting Manager with supervision and training of entry level and secondary accounting staff.
Auditing:
- Responsible for ensuring accounting files and archives are maintained in accordance with company document retention policy
- Provide support for internal and external audits
- Accurate and efficient maintenance of the general ledger accounts
- Follow up and resolve outstanding balancing issues

- The Senior Accountant will not have any direct reports but is expected to be a secondary leader to the General Accounting Team.
- The role of Senior Accountant with PRB is to help guide and train accounting staff alongside the Accounting Manager.
