Music Education Intern - Admin & Instruction

The Orlando Youth Chamber Ensembles (OYCE) is a nonprofit arts organization based in Greater Orlando/Central Florida that provides supplemental music education and performance opportunities to young musicians. We are seeking Administrative Interns and Instructional Music Interns to join our team for the upcoming season. These are unpaid, part‑time internship positions that offer hands‑on experience in nonprofit arts management and music education.

Interns must be available to work in person at rehearsals, concerts, and events in the Greater Orlando area. Occasional travel within Orange, Osceola, Lake, and Seminole Counties may be required.

The Administrative Intern position at OYCE provides hands‑on experience in nonprofit arts management, supporting programs and events that foster youth music education and community engagement.

• Organize and schedule appointments
• Plan meetings and take detailed minutes
• Write and distribute emails, correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms
• Maintain contact lists
• Provide general support to visitors
• Develop and maintain a filing system
• Take rehearsal attendance
• Maintain and update our website
• Attend concerts and set up an information booth
• Participate in recruiting events

• High School Diploma (or higher); additional qualification as an Administrative Assistant or Secretary will be a plus
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Gmail, in particular) is preferred.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
• Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers
• Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
• Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask

The Instructional Intern position at OYCE offers practical teaching experience by assisting with youth ensemble rehearsals and events, supporting music education, and fostering artistic growth in a collaborative environment.

• Attend all rehearsals of your applied instrument
• Assist in the setup and tear‑down of the rehearsal location
• Participate in recruiting events
• Sit in and perform with our ensembles
• Assist in the running of rehearsals
• Hold smaller sectionals and individual instruction if needed
• Pass out music before and/or during rehearsals
• Attend community outreach (i.e, school sectionals, instrument tryouts, solo and ensemble prep)
• Attend all of our concerts and assist in the logistical aspects of the concert

• High School Diploma (or higher); additional qualifications as such as Honor Band selections (ie. All‑State, All‑County) will be a plus
• Be studying music, or have equivalent performance experience
• Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers
• Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
