Administrative/Clerical
Under direct supervision, the purpose of this position is to perform district based and school based duties associated with general clerical duties in support of the work-site. Such work sites may include a district office setting, a school office setting or a technical center bookstore. Employees in this classification function at a routine accounting/clerical capacity and close out cash registers, type letters and memos, and make daily deposits.
Performs related work as directed.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
Responds to visitor, customer, parent or student complaints and strives to effectively resolve the issues.
Answers telephone calls and takes messages, provides information and assistance.
Greets visitors including parents and students and customers and provides assistance and information about the work-site.
Schedules appointments, meetings and conferences.
Type letters, reports, correspondence and newsletters.
Maintains inventory of supplies and orders accordingly, prepares inventory reports.
Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; utilizes word processing, database and software programs.
Distributes payroll checks to staff and teachers.
Prepares monthly billing for bookstores.
Maintains filing system.
Operates a variety of machinery, equipment and tools associated with department/work location activities, which may include a typewriter, copy machine or fax.
Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
Responsible for timely and accurate information they maintain as part of their job responsibilities.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by a minimum 2 to 4 months previous experience and/or training involving library work, or any equivalent combination of related education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions.

Requires the ability to compile, assemble, copy, record and/or transcribe data and/or information according to a prescribed schema or plan. Includes judging whether readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics are similar to or divergent from prescribed standards, procedures or routines.

Requires the ability to exchange information for the purpose of obtaining information or clarifying details. Performs such within well-established policies, procedures and standards.

Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
Verbal Aptitude:
Requires the ability to utilize a variety of reference data and information.
Mathematical Aptitude:
Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Functional Reasoning:
Requires ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Involves routine work according to clearly prescribed standard practices, with some latitude for independent judgment.
