Student Accessibility Services (SAS)

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) works with over 4,000 students with disabilities each year to facilitate equal access and provide reasonable accommodations. SAS collaborates closely with faculty, housing, and other departments to ensure disabled students experience equal opportunities on campus. A primary function of SAS is to facilitate more than 10,000 accommodated exams annually, supporting over 1,000 students and faculty. The organization also explores ways to proactively design the university experience with disability access and inclusion considered from the outset, minimizing the need for reactive accommodations.

SAS’s accessibility work spans most campus areas with opportunities for engagement and the ability to make a campus impact.

The Opportunity

The Testing Assistant will support an accommodated test proctoring system that manages approximately 10,000 exams per academic year. The role includes managing scheduling logistics, coordinating with students and faculty, and collaborating with a team of 5‑6 individuals. Typical work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with additional shifts from about 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm on 1‑2 occasions per week. Detail orientation and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Multitask across a variety of responsibilities requiring extreme attention to detail, including processing test requests in the SAS database and preparing for final exams.
  • Manage detailed information about test times, durations, and requirements communicated by professors, and store and communicate this information to the testing team.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff regarding exam details, scheduling preferences, and concerns before, during, and after testing.
  • Maintain continuous communication with the SAS team regarding all testing logistics.
  • Support SAS front‑desk operations, including answering phones, greeting walk‑in guests, and providing assistance in other operational areas as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing and maintaining information in databases or data management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to ensure accuracy in record‑keeping and data entry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds and experiences.
  • Possession of a valid Class E driver’s license is preferred but not required. This position may occasionally involve driving to various locations on and off campus.
