Position SummaryThe Business Office Generalist is a versatile role with a wide range of responsibilities within an Ambulatory Surgery Center. This role is essential in creating a welcoming and safe environment, promoting teamwork, and ensuring smooth operation. Will be responsible for registering patients, accurately entering demographic and insurance information, and managing patient prepayments. Additionally, the role involves answering facility calls, assisting with insurance verification and scheduling, assembling, and managing patient charts, and monitoring physician transcription.
EssentialFunctions
- Engaging with patients both face-to face and via telephone, addressing their questions and ensuring a positive experience.
- Registers patients in a timely and courteous manner. Accurately enters patient demographic and insurance information. Collects patient payments, credit cards, personal and cashier checks, and money orders.
- Assists with tasks that would optimize patient flow on date of service.
- Assists with Insurance Verification and Scheduling as needed.
- Assembles patient charts prior to procedure, review, and scan after procedure.
- Oversees physician transcription to ensure all cases are accurately transcribed, signed, and uploaded into the patient management document repository.
- Ensures receipt and timely scanning of all patient pathology/lab documentation.
- Collaborates with Central Business Office related to all aspects of patient and document management.
- Managing patient records, ensuring confidentiality, organizing, and scanning documentation.
- Treats everyone with kindness and respect.
- Creates a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and team members.
- Promotes an atmosphere of teamwork that aligns with the Facility standards and guidelines.
- Works well with others and maintains a professional demeanor.
- Comply with AHCA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and all regulatory standards.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service programs, and the Quality Meetings.
- Ability to setpriorities with time management and organizational skills.
- Complete variance reports as necessary
- Maintains punctual attendance consistent with Facility policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with Surgery Center policies and procedures.
- Performs any other tasks as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum two (2) years related experience in an Outpatient setting preferred.
- Basic Life Support BLS
- Managing documents between multiple software systems.
- Processing multiple forms of payments including credit cards, personal and cashier checks, and money orders.
- Computer Literacy:
Microsoft products, i.e., Outlook, Excel, and Word.
