Museum Registrar
Responsible for the care and organizational records of the Museum's permanent collections, loans and exhibitions; providing Museum staff with descriptive materials, visuals and other data for Museum activities; maintaining legal documents, files and data systems associated with cataloging acquisitions, accessions, deaccessions, loans, copyrights, exhibition contracts, packing, international and domestic shipping, insurance and storage.
Specific tasks include:
- Maintaining database with accurate and current records related to all aspects of collections and exhibitions.
- Supervising and maintaining art storage and conducting periodic inventories.
- Preparing gift acknowledgments.
- Processing outgoing and incoming loan agreements.
- Coordinating shipping for incoming and outgoing loans and temporary exhibitions.
- Supervising packing and unpacking of artwork.
- Completing condition reports.
- Maintaining logbook of collections transactions.
- Producing checklists and object labels for exhibitions and lending assistance with exhibition installation.
- Aiding in preparing meeting materials and agenda packets for the Collections and Exhibitions Committee throughout the year.
- Ensuring the museum is in compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to its collections and collecting activities.
- Proofing and editing written materials as needed related to the Museum's collections and exhibitions.
- Conducting and providing research support.
- Managing insurance plan for the collection including reports and claims.
- Traveling as needed to coordinate registrarial activities, including couriering.
- Working with volunteers and interns.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Academic and Business Requirements:
Minimum B.A. in Art or Art History, M.A. preferred. 2 years registrarial experience. Steel toe shoes required.

Skills and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required as well as the ability to work cooperatively with other staff members, lenders, artists, shippers and vendors. Must be well-organized, work under pressure to meet deadlines, and pay close attention to detail. Typing (50 wpm) and competent knowledge of current software, including Word, Excel and Embark databases. Temperament:
Enjoys working with and caring for art objects. Excellent interpersonal skills, systematic, meticulous, patient, self-starter and works well under pressure. Manages time efficiently, analyze and solve problems independently and if necessary, collaboratively. Ability to be flexible and embrace changes within this position due to departmental priorities.
