Senior Strategic Optimization Specialist

Job Summary

The Senior DC Strategic Optimization Specialist is responsible for collaborating with BJ’s internal business units and key vendor partners to develop and execute strategies that drive efficiencies and reduce total Ambient & Perishable DC operations costs. This role uses analytical and quantitative methods to understand, predict, and enhance DC operations processes, owns data work streams, analyzes performance, identifies problems, and develops and presents recommendations that support the organization’s strategic priorities and objectives.

The position is based on site at an Ambient or Perishable distribution center.

• Support development, monitoring, and reporting of operational metrics and KPIs.
• Develop and own portions of the DC annual budget and monthly rolling plan.
• Provide analytical support for projects, new business opportunities, and proposals.
• Model, analyze, and report on strategic initiatives to inform the business of challenges and opportunities.
• Provide ad‑hoc reporting and presentations as requested by leadership.

• Build and develop dashboards for the DC operations network.
• Support promotions and omni‑channel DC operations processes by providing data analysis.
• Provide analysis and reporting to deliver inventory visibility throughout the DC network.
• Support new initiatives with data analysis and reporting.
• Support the DC’s OP and RP processes by providing reporting packages to FP&A and logistics teams.
• Provide comprehensive tracking for high‑priority and high‑profile initiatives and programs.
• Offer support to the planning & allocation, transportation, and DC teams as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
• 4+ years of retail or distribution experience.
• Experience in supply chain management.
• Experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Ability to present to and influence team members and business partners with data‑driven insights.
• Clear and concise communication of recommendations.
• Desire to coach and mentor others.

Starting at $86,000.00. Compensation varies by location, education, experience, and qualifications.
