Position: JUVENILE JUSTICE DETENTION OFF SUPV - SE - 80039266

Position Overview

JUVENILE JUSTICE DETENTION OFF SUPV - SE -  (Requisition No: 878908, Position Number: ).

Pay Plan: SES. Minimum Biweekly Rate of Pay: $1,830.32.

Location:

Orange Regional Juvenile Detention Center, 2800 S Bumby Ave, Orlando, Florida 32806.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to agency and facility policies and procedures; maintain a safe and secure environment for youth, staff, and self.
  • Conduct daily inspections, supervise and instruct workers in the care and custody of youth, and ensure adequate safeguards.
  • Perform supervisory administrative functions: orientation, training, leave & attendance management, evaluations, special behavior reports, floor logs, youth folders, key control, disciplinary actions, and confinement reports.
  • Maintain good management and leadership practices, ensure schedules are followed, and undertake special details or projects as required.
  • Ensure compliance with release standards, court orders, and applicable policies; assist detention personnel with behavior and personal issues; evaluate youth and prepare progress reports.
  • Act as facility representative in public interactions and interpret policies in the absence of higher supervisors.
  • Assign staff daily to meet staffing needs; participate in daily briefings with status reports and key assignments.
  • Monitor data entries in the Master Control and Admissions/Release Office; complete required paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Oversee staff overtime rosters; ensure fair application; follow state regulations and master contract terms.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license; handle state vehicle use responsibly; ensure proper clothing and hygiene for youth; supervise washing machine usage.
  • Coordinate, direct, and monitor daily workload for facility, staff, and youth; ensure effective supervision for safety and security.
  • Communicate with supervisory staff regarding leave approvals and staffing coverage.
  • Complete training requirements for medication dispensing; handle sick call lists and medical issues.
  • Work non‑traditional shifts as needed; attend required meetings and training.
  • Use CPR, AED, and First Aid in emergencies; report Central Communication Center incidents promptly; assist in internal investigations.
  • Review daily reports and logs for timeliness and accuracy; use JJIS and DFMS reports.
  • Comply with Section 215.422, Florida Statutes (Prompt Payment Compliance Law); perform related duties as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Knowledge of DJJ Detention Services Manual, federal and state regulations, and facility policies.
  • Ability to supervise staff and youth, manage violent situations, work overtime for coverage, and maintain security.
  • Minimum: age 19, high‑school graduate or equivalent; no felony or relevant misdemeanor convictions; comply with background check and E‑Verify.
  • Valid driver’s license required; must obtain Florida license within 30 days if hired with an out‑of‑state license; acceptable restricted licenses specified.
  • Certification in Florida DJJ direct care training within 180 days of employment; those not currently in system must complete Ergometric IMPACT Assessment and Training Test.
  • Adherence to Florida statistical requirements for male/female workforce ratios; compliance with background investigation and fingerprinting requirements.

All candidates will undergo sex‑offender check, criminal background checks (state, local, national), and pre‑employment drug screening for direct care positions.
